The Osa Peninsula is one of the jewels in the crown of Costa Rica and is one of the places with the most incredible natural aesthetic beauty in the region. Today, 80% of the territory is protected under different conservation types, allowing the Peninsula to house species that represent 2.5% of the world's biodiversity.

In contrast to the wealth and natural exuberance of the area, local communities experience poverty and low levels of development. Therefore, it is still common for many of the region's inhabitants to engage in illegal logging, gold mining, and hunting, as a means of subsistence.

What is Caminos de Osa?

In 2015, the Caminos de Osa Association was born to operate as a local entity in charge of managing the Caminos de Osa destination. Our mission is to establish and promote a value chain of local entrepreneurs with the same collective vision of sustainable development. Our goal is to offer a balanced and unique experience for visitors, showing a deep respect for the essence of our region.

Caminos de Osa takes advantage of the cooperation of the private, public, academic, and non-profit sectors to create a sustainable tourist destination that promotes socioeconomic improvement for the communities of the region. We offer 4 distinct trails, as well as customized packages and educational experiences that promote the rich ecology and culture of the Osa Peninsula.
